Basajaun Testing Site: KIMUA strengthens its commitment to offshore energy

At KIMUA, our commitment to innovation and leadership in the renewable energy sector is unwavering

Over the years, we have worked with the goal of providing lifting and load-handling solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Today, we are pleased to announce the inauguration of the Basajaun Testing Site, a space dedicated to validating and testing large-scale lifting solutions for the offshore wind industry, reinforcing our position as a key player in the offshore sector.

What is this new facility, and what benefits will it bring to both our company and the industry as a whole?

Introduction to the Basajaun Testing Site

The Basajaun Testing Site is located at the Port of Pasaia and is the result of a €3 million investment. This testing bench, with a load capacity of 5,100 tons and a surface area of 2,000 m², is designed to evaluate lifting solutions used in the installation of the largest and heaviest components of offshore wind farms.

With this infrastructure, we can conduct static and dynamic tests that simulate real-life conditions in which these systems operate at sea, advancing the development of safer and more efficient solutions for the renewable energy industry.

Why Basajaun?

The Basajaun Testing Site represents our commitment to a more sustainable energy future and is a reflection of our ability to adapt to the increasingly demanding and competitive offshore
sector.

A Comprehensive Project: KIMUA Port

Alongside the inauguration of the Basajaun Testing Site, we are developing KIMUA Port, our new 1,500 m² production plant. This facility will allow us to manufacture lifting solutions specifically for the offshore industry, supporting not only wind energy but also related sectors such as wave energy and Oil & Gas.

Impact on the Offshore Sector

The launch of the Basajaun Testing Site is not only a step forward for KIMUA but also for the offshore industry as a whole. By providing an advanced testing facility for the largest wind energy components, we help strengthen the global supply chain and improve manufacturing and transportation processes for these systems.

Our Commitment

At KIMUA, we continue to implement methodologies that ensure quality at every stage of a project, from design to final delivery. Additionally, the creation of this testing bench is a clear demonstration of our commitment to energy transition and planetary sustainability, ensuring that our solutions contribute to a cleaner future.

Next Steps

With the inauguration of the Basajaun Testing Site, we continue to build a strong and secure future for the offshore wind industry. At KIMUA, we will keep innovating and offering tailor-made solutions that support the development of sustainable and high-performance projects in the offshore sector.
